Who is Kaal, What is Kaal Lok, What is Satlok and What is Shabad?

Posted on December 13, 2009 by admin

'Kaal' or 'Brahm' is the father of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiv. He is also called Mahabrahma, Mahavishnu and Mahashiv. We all live in Kaal Lok. All the planets including Earth are a part of Kaal Lok. Heaven and Hell is also with in this Kaal Lok. This is the same 'Kaal' which Guru Nanak Dev Ji has mentioned in his Bani in Guru Granth Sahib. People misinterpret 'Kaal' as 'time' or 'death' but in reality Kaal refers to the God above Brahma, Vishnu and Shiv. He through the medium of three Gods gives us birth and then kills us. Kaal does not let anyone escape his lok.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji is among one of those who went to 'Sachkhand', in other words 'Satlok' which is above the Kaal Lok. When someone is said to attain salvation (Moksha), then he or she escapes the Kaal Lok and reaches Satlok or Sachkhand.

(Page 55, satar 17)
Kaal does not reach that place, where the Infinite Word of the Guru's Shabad resounds. ||7||

(Page 58, satar 19)
One who recognizes the 'Shabad' merges into it, and is not afflicted by 'Kaal'.

(Page 140, satar 8)
Death does not even approach those who follow the Guru's Teachings, and become the slaves of the Lord's slaves.

(Page 227, satar 9)
Kaal does not spare them, without the Support of the True Guru. ||7||

There is not even a trace of peace and comfort in this Kaal Brahm’s lok. The vices of lust, anger, greed, affection, arrogance, love-hatred, joy-sorrow, profit-loss, pride-honour, born from Trigunmayi Maya, are troubling every living being. Here one living being kills and eats another living being, exploits, deprives one of honour, robs wealth and snatches away peace. Here there is fire blazing everywhere. Even if you want to live in peace, others will not let you live. Even when you do not want, a thief commits a theft, a robber commits robbery, an accident takes place, the crop of a farmer gets destroyed, the business of a business man collapses, the kingdom of a king is taken away, a healthy body gets affected by a disease; in other words, there is nothing safe here. The kingdoms of the kings, the honour of the respected, the wealth of the wealthy, the strength of the powerful, and even our bodies are suddenly snatched away. Young sons and daughters die in front of the parents, parents die leaving their breast-feeding children crying and sobbing, young sisters become widows and we are compelled to bear the mountains of sorrows. Just think that is this place worthy of living in? But we are helplessly living here because we do not see any way to get out of this cage of Kaal, and we have become used to causing grief to others and of suffering grief. Because we have forgotten our real home. That supreme peace and happiness, instead of being here, is present in our real home Satlok, where there is no birth, no death, no old age, no sorrows, no unrest, no disease, no give and take of money, do not have to pay any electricity bill, nor have to buy any means of entertainment. There everything is provided free of- cost by God and is indestructible. There is evidence in the speech of Bandichhor Garibdas Ji Maharaj that —

In Satlok, there is constant supreme peace and happiness. Until we go to Satlok, we cannot attain supreme peace, happiness and immortality. It is only possible to go to Satlok if we take updesh (initiation/spiritual instruction) from a Purna Saint (Complete Saint) and keep doing bhakti of Purna Parmatma (Supreme God) throughout our life.

The only means by which one can go to Satlok or Sachkhand is via a True Guru, or a complete saint or "Satguru" who then gives you the 'shabad' or 'naam' or 'satnaam'. This is what Guru Nanak Dev Ji is referring to in His Bani in Guru Granth Sahib. Without a True Guru one continues to wander in the labyrinth of 84 lakh life forms.

(Page 58, Line 3)
Without the True Guru, the Name is not obtained. Without the Name, what is the use of it all?

(Page 465, Line 2-4)

If the Merciful Lord shows His Mercy, then the True Guru is found. This soul wandered through countless incarnations, until the True Guru instructed it in the Word of the Shabad. There is no giver as great as the True Guru; hear this, all you people. Meeting the True Guru, the True Lord is found; He removes self-conceit from within, and instructs us in the Truth of Truths. ||4||

(Page 946, Line 8)
without meeting the True Guru, no one is liberated. Without meeting the True Guru, the Naam cannot be found.

(Page 1288, Line 9)
Through the True Guru, the Fear of God wells up, and the Door of Salvation is found.

"Guru Maniyo Granth" is OK but one will need to find a living True Guru which will impart the True Naam or "Satnaam". Only then salvation is possible otherwise the circle of life and death will remain. What ever one may believe in or follow, but a living True Guru is imperative to salvation.

How you can say that Guru Manio Granth is not relevant ? How? Do you have any proof ? When Guru himself say something to the disciples they have to accept it at any cost. Now Guru Gobind was a living guru and as a guru whatever he said true disciples will accept that .If somebody else other than guru says guru manio granth then we can think about your point but it was guru himself to say guru manio granth so there should not be any doubt and guru granth sahib includes Sant Kabir ji's bani as well, we are just having direction from those shabads. I am born in hindu family bit does not believe in religions thats why I accept Guru Granth Sahib as my guru .

Guru Gobind Singh ji said "Guru Maniyo Granth" so that we respect the Holy Book and follow each and every word of that book. It was needed at that time so that self made and arbitrary Gurus do not spoil the pious sect. But salvation or moksh is only possible by having a living Guru as Guru Nanak Dev Ji has said.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji is considered the Superior most Guru of Sikhism and we have to follow what Guru Nanak Dev ji has said. This in no way undermines what Guru Gobind Singh ji said but actually supports it.

dear all

I think you are wrong but partially right. according to hare Krishna movement it is lord Krishna who is the top. lord Krishna live in goloka vrindavan with his beautiful consort Radha. lord Krishna expanded himself from his supreme heaven to create 7 more heavens starting with the top most which is called satlok. this is where god kabir resides and where guru Nanaks soul spirit was taken then wrote the guru granth. the first heaven is called jambu islands where once the soul reaches here gets chances to climb the heavenly ladder. that's all for now. pls email me or leave comments

yes i ramanand sagar shri krishna ; krishna is saying that he is himself a mahskaal but he is also saying that we should make our mind nd heart stable for moksh or prmeshwar or ishwar prapti in satlok which is above kaallok ... its nowhere said by krishns that i god , he said that what i am doing is his duty to give birth nd death with brahma , vishnu nd shiva ; but krishna was teaching arjun to do his duty like krishna ( kaal ) is doing his duty , nd if human wants to get away from this cycle of kaal nd births nd death , sukh or dukh he / she needs to attach his atma to tge permeshvar or ishwar who is above this kaal look nd sitting in satlok ... lord krishna himself worship that prameshvar of satlok ... Again lord krishna is doing his duty only give birth nd death ,but he is also saying that one should get away from this cycle by ishwar prsoti or moksh or satnam or whatever we call
